In a recent announcement, Southwest Airlines Co. revealed leadership updates in its Technology division. Carrie Mills, who previously held the role of Vice President Technology, Cybersecurity, has been promoted to Vice President & Chief Information Security Officer—Cybersecurity. In this new position, Mills will oversee all cybersecurity aspects across Southwest’s facilities, airports, and aircraft. Her responsibilities include security engineering, operations, incident response, threat intelligence, risk and compliance, and vulnerability management. Mills has played a significant role in enhancing the airline’s cybersecurity posture through various initiatives.
Jim Dayton, who was previously Vice President & CISO Technology—Platforms & Architecture, now transitions to Vice President Technology—Platforms & Architecture. He will focus on developing modern foundational data and technology platforms and leading the Technology Architecture function to prioritize resiliency, security, and effectiveness in Southwest’s systems.
These updates are part of the ongoing organizational restructuring initiated by Southwest Airlines, aimed at optimizing their technology division and enhancing cybersecurity measures. The airline’s President & CEO, Bob Jordan, emphasized the importance of their people and hospitality in delivering the best service to customers.
