Dutch battery repair startup NOWOS has announced plans to expand across Europe and open 20 new branches in the next five years. The company, which specializes in repairing and reusing lithium-ion batteries, aims to start its European expansion in Germany in 2024, followed by Italy and Spain in 2025, and other countries in subsequent years. NOWOS has appointed former Swapfiets CEO Steven Uitentuis as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee its European expansion. Uitentuis brings experience in mobility and scaling business processes. The company is actively seeking new investors to support its growth and expand its current repair facilities to accommodate a growing influx of used lithium-ion batteries. It also plans to develop and produce a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) based on second-life cells to create energy storage facilities. NOWOS has already secured financing from Rabobank and the National Green Fund and aims to capitalize on opportunities in the mobility, industrial, and energy storage markets.
